Retreats and Pilgrimagesalt

Journeys made by a group of parishioners to a shrine, holy place, or sanctuary as a means of connecting the Christian life as a journey toward a heavenly city. Recent retreats have included Lenten retreats to Camp New Hope and a woman's retreat to the Trinity Center. Check the weekly announcements for upcoming trips.

Pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 2012

David Frazelle and The Rev. Sally French, a priest in this diocese and a very experienced leader of Holy Land pilgrimages, will be leading a trip to the Holy Land in the fall of 2012. The pilgrimage will be a joint Chapel of the Cross-Church of the Holy Family venture, and will take place September 24th through October 6th, 2012. If you have ever wanted to see where it all began, to learn about the first Christians on-site, to stand where Jesus stood, to visit the sites of his life, death and resurrection, and to arrive at new understandings of our Faith, our Scriptures, and our Traditions, please consider this trip. A detailed itinerary, along with registration, cost, and other logistical information, is here.  Contact David Frazelle with questions.

Lenten Retreat 2012

Paul J. Ilecki, Ed.D., will lead a three-day Lenten retreat, “Just Noticing ... Awareness Tools for Contemplative Practice,” from Friday afternoon, March 23 to Monday morning March 26, 2012. For more information, click here.

Adult Inquirers' Class

Reading with a View to Spirituality

Reading with a View to Spirituality is a fellowship of sprit seekers, engaged in the discipline of study and ecumenical in reading and membership. Our work consists of spiritual awakening and deepening, in addition to general maturing and refining. From our readings we hope, not only to glean insights into the how of spiritual existence, but especially we look to be challenged and nudged, and to be exhorted to adopt a way of life. Thus, we read not so much with our minds as with our souls. The authors continually remind us of the attitudes and habits of soul, whereby, alive to grace, we may feel and practice the presence of God each day.

Awakening Heart

A contemplative prayer group that meets 9:00-10:30 am on the second Saturday of each month and is open to anyone who engages in a regular practice of contemplative prayer. If you are developing a listening prayer practice, such as Centering Prayer or any type of meditation designed to keep in the present moment with loving attention, we can help one another support and encourage that effort. Please contact Jane Dyer

Centering Prayer Group

The Centering Prayer Group meets weekly to practice a contemporary form of an ancient way of silent, contemplative prayer. Meetings are held at 5:00 pm on Tuesdays in Room 1 of the Yates Wing of the parish house, and new members are welcome at any time. For additional information about Centering Prayer, contact the Rev. David Frazelle or Pat Moore.
