Youth and Family Education Programs

  • Church School: Classes for two-year-olds through high school age taught by teams of adult parishioners from 10:20 to 11:05 a.m. each Sunday during the school year. If you did not complete a registration form in 2010-2011, please do so this year and return it to the Christian Formation office.  Boykin Bell.
  • EYC (Episcopal Youth Community): A group of young people from sixth through twelfth grade who meet, socialize, play, participate in community service, and explore social and personal issues in an atmosphere of Christian fellowship and support. Caren Parker
  • Mission Trip: A week-long mission trip providing service, fellowship and learning to participants whose activities include painting houses, installing plumbing and providing social support for residents in the area being served. David Frazelle, Caren Parker
  • Youth Inquirers' Class: A year-long preparation program for high school aged students, primarily ninth graders, who seriously consider and prepare for making a mature public affirmation of their faith. David Frazelle Bill Joyner

 

Serving the Church

  • Acolytes: Baptized students from sixth grade through college who assist the clergy during worship services, representing and leading the congregation. more
  • Youth Saints: Application Children in the 3rd grade and older who do not participate in choir are invited to serve as assistants in the Children's Chapel Program. Boykin Bell
  • Junior Choir: This choir of 30-35 singers is open to all young people beginning in the third grade and ending with high school graduation. The Junior Choir sings for all 9:00 a.m. Sunday Eucharists and on other occasions throughout the year such as Ash Wednesday and Christmas Eve. No audition is required for admission to the choir, although a placement into sections based upon vocal range will be made early in the fall. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00-5:15, and thirty minutes before services. Dr. Quinn.
  • Youth Lectors: Young people who are specifically trained to serve as lectors during the 9 am Sunday service.  Pat Meacham.

Youth Council

A group of parishioners that works with the associate for parish ministry in enhancing the parish youth programs. Anna Sumner Noonan.
