Christian Formation

And you shall teach [my words] to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise (Deuteronomy 11:19)

Christian Formation at The Chapel of the Cross goes beyond education (although that is certainly a vital part of our mission) to include the nurturing of faith in all our parishioners, from the very young to those who have been faithful Episcopalians for ninety years.

The work of the Christian Formation office includes Sunday morning Church School classes, Vacation Church School, Adult Education opportunities (both morning and evening), intergenerational events (like Advent wreath making and the Jesse Tree), special retreats, Children’s Chapel, caroling to homebound parishioners and much more.

We do this work with the help of many volunteers, including almost 50 church school teachers. If you are interested in volunteering or if you want more information about opportunities in Christian Formation, please contact Gretchen Jordan (Director of Christian Formation) or Boykin Bell (Christian Formation Assistant).
