Good Samaritan Guild
The Good Samaritan Guild responds to the needs of parishioners in times of short term crisis or illness, with defined tasks such as delivering casseroles and soups, transportation to health care appointments and church services, running errands, and respite care giving to convalescents or care givers. The guild also has a medical equipment loan closet at the church so parishioners can borrow needed equipment.
The guild currently has about 23 members. We have coordinators who serve one to two months a year. They contact families or individuals who requested service, were referred or who may be known to be in need. They can then contact other members of the guild to assist in following up if Good Samaritan services are indicated. Requests for help from the guild should be directed to one of the clergy who will then contact the guild coordinator on duty. Coordinators for 2007 were Peggy Pratt, Molly Dempsey, Mary Kent Hill, Johanna Hodgson, Emily Stube, Gale Gilchrist, Jean French, and Margie Pfaff.
The guild will accept donations of medical equipment for the loan closet. Casseroles and soups, dated and marked for the guild’s use, can be placed in the church freezer. Parishioners interested in serving in the Good Samaritan Guild may contact the Rev. Victoria Jamieson-Drake or Peggy Pratt. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance from the guild, please speak with one of the clergy or contact the parish office. Peggy Pratt, Victoria Jamieson-Drake
