Social Ministry Committee
Introduction/Overview
The Social Ministry Committee is a vestry committee charged with focusing the outreach of social ministries of the parish by supporting individual ministries, promoting relevant educational opportunities, reviewing funding requests, and making recommendations for discretionary expenditures by the vestry.
Mission Statement
To serve God by bringing Christ's love, justice, and mercy into the world through education, stewardship, and leadership through social outreach.
Mandates
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." This is the greatest and first commandment. History
The Social Ministry Committee was chartered by the Vestry of Chapel of the Cross in 1989 in response to the Great Commandment. and the Great Commission "to go into all the world." The purpose of the Social Ministry Committee is "to focus the outreach ministry of the Chapel of the Cross."
Membership
The Social Ministry Committee is composed of 12-24 parishioners. Included in the committee are our parish deacons and a representative from the Vestry. Parishioners are always welcome to attend our committee meetings which are generally the first Sunday of the month from 1-3 PM at a variety of locations. Parishioners interested in joining the committee, attending a meeting or just learning more about committee activities may contact the parish office or leave your request in the Social Ministry maIlbox in the office.
Committee Minutes
Minutes are taken at all committee meetings and are posted on the web site and the Social Ministry bulletin board in the dining room after approval.
