Adult Education Committee
A group of lay people charged with planning educational opportunities for adults; these typically include presentations and discussions on various topics relating to the Christian Faith, frequently in a series, on most Sunday mornings and at other designated times. Please contact Nancy Tunnessen.

Adult Opportunities
Church School
Classes for two-year-olds through high school age taught by teams of adult parishioners from 10:15 to 11:00 a.m. each Sunday during the school year. Please contact Gretchen Jordan.
Retreats and Pilgrimage
Journeys made by a group of parishioners to a shrine, holy place, or sanctuary as a means of connecting the Christian life as a journey toward a heavenly city. Recents retreats have included Lenten retreats to Camp New Hope and a woman's retreat to the trinity Center. Check the weekly announcements for upcoming trips.
Adult Inquirers' Class
A series of weekly classes taught by the rector and staff on the Episcopal approach to the basics of Christianity, required of adults seeking confirmation. Please contact Stephen Elkins-Williams.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study
Named for longtime parishioner Mary Harris, this self-led study group meets each Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. during the academic year in the Parish Library and is open to all. On hiatus for the summer, the group resumes meeting September 9, 2009. Please contact Mary Schoenfeld for more information.
The class recently completed its project of reading through the entire Bible, including the Apocrypha, and ending with Revelation. Lively discussions took place regarding this controversial, fascinating, and visionary book of the Bible. Included in the discussions were the questions of what are the Rapture, the End times, the Second Coming of Christ, and the Apocalypse, and how are these subjects treated in the Book of Revelation?
Reading with a View to Spirituality
Reading with a View to Spirituality is a fellowship of sprit seekers, engaged in the discipline of study and ecumenical in reading and membership. Our work consists of spiritual awakening and deepening, in addition to general maturing and refining. From our readings we hope, not only to glean insights into the how of spiritual existence, but especially we look to be challenged and nudged, and to be exhorted to adopt a way of life. Thus, we read not so much with our minds as with our souls. The authors continually remind us of the attitudes and habits of soul, whereby, alive to grace, we may feel and practice the presence of God each day.
Short Story Reading Group
This is a very informal, always changing, and quite welcoming group of people who love to read. We read ‘secular’ short stories and discuss ‘religious’ messages, themes, and insights that we find in the story. We meet the third Thursday of each month (except in the summer) at 7:30 pm in the parlor. This year all of our short stories have been found in Faith: Stories, edited by Michael Curtis. Awakening Heart
A contemplative prayer group that meets 9:00-10:30 am on the second Saturday of each month and is open to anyone who engages in a regular practice of contemplative prayer. If you are developing a listening prayer practice, such as Centering Prayer or any type of meditation designed to keep in the present moment with loving attention, we can help one another support and encourage that effort. Centering Prayer Group
The Centering Prayer Group meets weekly to practice a contemporary form of an ancient way of silent, contemplative prayer. Meetings are held at 5:00 pm on Wednesdays in Room 1 of the Yates Wing of the parish house, and new members are welcome at any time.
