Welcome, Young Adults!

The Chapel of the Cross has joined forces with our friends at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Rosemary Street to create a vibrant young adults group for people in their 20’s and 30’s. Our group includes graduate students, professional students, non-students and working people, some of us married and some of us single. Many of our activities are joint ventures with the Holy Trinity Lutheran young adults group.

Past activities have included:

  • Gatherings for refreshment at Linda’s following the 9:30pm Sunday Compline service
  • Lunches following the 11:15 service
  • Monthly Bible studies
  • Occasional service opportunities
  • Monthly dinner groups (see below)
  • Various other fellowship opportunities

To be added to the list serve and stay in the loop for upcoming activities, please contact John Derrick. For general questions about young adults at the Chapel of the Cross, contact David Frazelle, 929-2193.

Dinners for Eight

Dinners for Eight are informal, monthly dinner groups of about eight people for young adults in their 20s or 30s that meet through the academic year. Responsibility for providing the food is shared, with the host family or individual preparing the main dish and the others bringing everything from appetizers to dessert. Groups are organized in the fall, and there is a second opportunity to join in January. We try to mix up registrants who participated the previous year, since the goal of these groups is to introduce people who might not otherwise meet. We also try to match couples with children with other couples with children, since children provide particular logistical challenges for dining. Last year, about 35 parishioners participated in four Dinners for Eight groups. They are a good way to meet other parishioners in your age group and enjoy their company while sharing a meal. Register on-line or download a registration form to print and complete. Paper registration forms are available in the parish office and dining room. Registration for fall, 2008 is due by Sept. 23rd. Contact the Rev. David Frazelle, 929-2193.
