Thompson Children's Home

Molly McConnell

The Chapel of the Cross has partnered with the Thompson Children's Home as part of its outreach ministry. Thompson Children's Home is actively involved in child-abuse prevention. They are also active in providing clothing for abused and neglected children that have been removed from their homes by the courts and then placed in protective custody. These children are in the therapeutic treatment and residential care programs at the home.

Beginning Sunday, April 22, through May 20, there will be an opportunity for everyone to participate in their spring and summer clothing drive. A display with hearts attached will be in the dining room. You are encouraged to choose a heart that bears a child's name and an article of clothing. The participants then purchase the item and return it, unwrapped with the heart attached, to the dining room or parish office.

There are several opportunities to serve through this ministry. Those who sew are invited to participate in the "Needlers." They will be making navy jumpers and sweaters that are required for the girls and boys.

For more information on the programs involved with this project, call Molly McConnell.
