Preschool Painting

Stacey Tompkins, Vestry/Preschool Liaison

Most of us realize the wonders a new coat of paint can do for a room or hallway. The wonderful work done in our dining room and parlor illustrate this fact. Soon we will once again find wet paint signs at the Chapel of the Cross. The second floor space shared by Sunday School classes and the preschool at the Chapel of the Cross will be painted during the Christmas holidays.

Usually, the parish pays for large projects involving the physical plant in this shared space. However, preschool parents donated the funds to finance this project. The preschool parents are very grateful for Chapel of the Cross' support of the school and wanted to demonstrate their gratitude in a tangible way. According to preschool director Laura Gelblum, the parents donated $3200 in less than a week once Sharon Kolk started the initiative.

A group that included former Christian Education Director Amy Gordon, Laura Gelblum, and representatives from the Building and Grounds committee chose paint and a color scheme that appealed to both church and preschool. Matthew Lawrence will supervise the contractor's work. Both Christian education and preschool students will benefit from the improved appearance of the classrooms.
