The 39th Annual ABC Sale

March 31, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

This annual event provides everyone with the best-of-the-best buys and opportunities for short-term service to the church and community. Here is your chance to help as a donor, buyer, and/or volunteer, and to make a significant contribution to those community organizations that provide needed services to our neighbors and ourselves.

This year Margaret Conrad and Molly Dempsey will be the Co-chairs of the 2001 ABC sale. The Social Ministry Committee is now soliciting requests for funds from charitable organizations and will make recommendations to the Vestry for disbursement of the sale proceeds. Traditionally, proceeds have been given to organizations outside the parish. Requests may be submitted to the parish office in care of the ABC Subcommittee prior to March 4. For more information, please call Sandra McClasky.

Terrific volunteers have made this wonderful celebration of goodwill a reality for the community for 39 years. Last year over $19,000 from this sale was put to good work. Whatever your reason for participation: to obtain funds for worthy organizations, for the excitement and tradition of this project, to empty the closet or attic, or to shop for an incredible variety of merchandise at bargain basement prices, YOU make it all happen.

Volunteers serve by donating, sorting, arranging, picking up, pricing, and selling merchandise, by preparing for the sale, and by cleaning up afterwards. Each year, the return of department chairs and other volunteers from prior years makes the sale possible and successful. Please look in the HELP WANTED section of "Crossings," the Sunday bulletin, for specific opportunities to join this enthusiastic and capable group of parishioners. The co-chairs will be contacting those who indicated willingness to serve. If you have a specific interest in an area and can give even a few hours, please do not hesitate to call one of the co-chairs.

The departments are: Accessories; Adult Recreation; Bake Shop; Books; Children's Toys; Children's, Men's, Women's Clothing; the French Room (better clothing); Garden Shop; Household Treasures; Sorting; Parking; Hosts and Hostesses; Cleanup; Carol Woods; and Carolina Meadows.
