Time and Talent Survey

Katherine Kopp, Stewardship Committee

Last March the stewardship committee distributed a "time and talent" survey to interested parishioners following services on the Sunday of vestry elections.

This survey was a preliminary attempt to begin compiling information on the many ways that Chapel of the Cross parishioners can contribute to activities within the parish, as well as their availability and interest in performing specific tasks at specific times. Some of those completing the surveys had suggestions for refining the process; we are utilizing many of those ideas so that we can be more certain of gathering the most complete information possible.

K.T. Lawson Vaughan, a member of the stewardship committee, put the information we had gathered into a spreadsheet, creating the beginnings of a parish time and talent database. The information was distributed to clergy and parish administrative staff in order to help them identify parishioners who are willing to volunteer in certain areas overseen by clergy and staff members. Some of you, such as parishioners who expressed interest in helping with vacation church school or the Christian education program, may have already been contacted.

Our goal is to complete improvements to the survey and distribute it to all parishioners through the Every Member Canvass this fall. The stewardship committee believes that a time and talent survey will be a valuable resource in matching parishioners' interests and abilities with specific parish needs, allowing each of us to contribute to the life of the parish in a way that is consistent with our time and our talents.
