At its October meeting, the vestry:
* Welcomed Parish Administrator Barbara Hastings back from her
extended sick leave
*
Learned that the Rector’s proposal to teach a course, "Preaching
Grace on Special Occasions," has been approved by Duke Divinity
School and that he will be teaching the course during the spring
semester
* Elected Kim Sullivan and Laurie Gosnell for three-year terms
as delegates to Diocesan Convention and elected Bob Chase as first
alternate, Bunnie Collura as second alternate, Paul Carew as third
alternate, Hugh Tilson as fourth alternate, Suzanne Sauter as
fifth alternate, and Ted Vaden as sixth alternate
* Authorized the treasurer to open a checking account at BB&T
in the name of the Chapel of the Cross Orange County Missioner's
Discretionary Fund, with Lisa Fischbeck as the authorized signatory
* Learned that the University Ministry Committee has received
a request from the diocese
to cut the Campus Ministry budget request by 25% as a part of
across the board cuts
* Learned that Anne Altaffer has been hired as publication assistant
through December 31, with continuing employment to depend on the
2003 budget
* Began initial discussion of a proposed personnel policy on computer
use
* Approved the recommendations of the Personnel Committee for
rewording of personnel policies on work assessment and immediate
termination.
