Summary of Actions Taken


At its December 2001 meeting, the Vestry:

* Heard the Every Member Canvass report that, as of December 20, 2001, 501 pledges totaling $791,000 had been received and that 304 letters had been sent to parishioners who had not yet pledged

* Heard a report from the Finance Committee that it has tentatively identified ways to reduce the projected deficit for the 2002 budget from $40,115 to $13,437

* Heard from the treasurer that cash flow for 2001 is negative $68,000, but that the parish may still break even for the year; heard also that some parish funds have been moved to higher interest bearing accounts

* Received an interim report from the Ad Hoc Committee on Elder Ministry

* Received a report on property and casualty insurance and authorized the junior warden and the parish administrator to make additional inquiries about the necessary level of insurance and to purchase additional coverage

* Deferred until the January vestry retreat a decision on the possible uses of a tithe of the Alice Lewis bequest

* Heard that there will be an Episcopal Campus Ministry mission to Barbados in the spring and that there will be opportunities for parishioners to sponsor students

* Heard that the rector has appointed Betty Pristera to serve on the Parish Discernment Committee

* Heard that the Rev. John Zunes has decided to retire as Priest Associate, effective December 27 and expressed great appreciation for Mr. Zunes' service.
