Summary of Actions Taken
At its January meeting, the vestry:
* Adopted the 2002 budget, including resolutions on clergy housing allowances
* Authorized disbursal of the remaining $16,400 tithe from the Alice Lewis bequest in the amounts of $4,200 each to Inter-Faith Council for Social Services and Orange Congregations in Missions for emergency utility assistance to low income households and $8,000 as a grant to St. Alban's Davidson Campus Ministry
* Learned that the parish ended the year with a balanced budget for 2001
* Endorsed Melynn Glusman as a postulant in the ordination process for priesthood
At its February meeting, the vestry:
* Discussed a proposal for a new approach for starting a new congregation in Orange County and made plans to meet on March 19 with the clergy and vestries of the Church of the Holy Family and St. Matthew's in Hillsborough to discuss these plans
* Learned that the 2001 budget ended the year with a surplus of $11,810
* Received an interim report from the ad hoc committee on the Elder Ministry Proposal
* Received an interim report from the Space Use Study Committee
* Learned that the Johnson Intern Program has received a $15,000 annually renewable grant from the Strowd Roses Foundation and that this, in addition to parishioner gifts of $60,000, will cover the parish's third year commitment to the program
* Approved the nomination of Jenny Tsering to the University Ministry Committee
* Approved a recommendation for expenditure of $3,000 from the Reconciliation Fund for support of the USA Cross of Nails
* Approved the recommendation of the Social Ministry Committee for expenditure of $1,000 from the social ministry discretionary budget for the ECM Barbados mission trip
