Vacation Church School

Pam Miller

Mark your calendars and get set for Vacation Church School (VCS) 2002!

Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, from 9 a.m. until noon, children aged 3 through rising sixth graders are invited to take part in a fun-filled week of music, crafts, games, snacks, lessons, and play.

The absolute deadline for registration is Sunday, June 2, to allow enough time to order T-shirts for all!

The theme for this year's Vacation Church School is "Laws To Live By -- The Ten Commandments." Our exploration will be about God's Covenant with His people, given in love as signposts for living. Through the use of learning centers, children will get hands-on experience, focusing on specific topics and tasks, taking part in cooperative learning and exploring various aspects of the theme designed to spark the imagination and engage the mind and the heart.

The planned activities will guide participants to learn about the laws as liberating possibilities for growth; as a way for us to deepen and grow in our faith and life as disciples of Christ. There will be quiet times for reflection and very active times for all to enjoy! Our days will begin each morning at 9:00 with music and song in the Chapel. Parents are welcome and encouraged to join us during this time. In addition, parents are invited to join us on our last day, Friday June 28th, for an ice cream feast. Stay tuned for special announcements about Vacation Church School, in "Crossings" and during VCS week.

The cost for the week is $22 per child, with a maximum of $66 per family. Scholarships are available upon request. Registration forms are available in the dining room and the parish office, from church school teachers, and can be printed from the the following link. Registration Form

Please be mindful of the registration deadline of June 2; later registrants will not receive a T-shirt.

Vacation Church School depends on volunteers. We still need you to make this week successful for our children. Whether you are an elder who can share a story or a teen who can run with wiggly three-year olds, VCS would love to have your help. Please call the parish office at 919-929-2193 to volunteer or if you have questions.
