The Journey Continues
Megan Sanders, Johnson Intern

The spirit of the Thanksgiving season is alive and well in the Johnson interns’ home! The five of us have been living in the Chapel of the Cross faith community for more than two months now and, as we’ve settled in to our new surroundings, our initial excitement upon arrival continues in our daily lives as we live and work and grow together. Our days at various non-profit work sites provide endless opportunities for both dinner conversation and dynamic group discussion as we share our experiences and offer encouragement and counsel to one another through our daily joys and struggles. After only two months of working with “A Helping Hand,” it’s difficult for me to imagine life with out seeing my clients every week and building upon the relationships of which I am now privileged to be a part!

Becoming a part of the Johnson Intern Program has blessed my life and my personal journey with so many new open doorways through which to peer and paths to explore! I am currently discerning a vocation to the Episcopal priesthood and I am overwhelmed with gratitude as I continue to enjoy the vast resources of our community at Chapel of the Cross. The incredible priests, deacons, and lay ministers of this faith community, as well as our board, our director and mentors, and the great number of faithful parishioners have all opened a space in the heart of this community for the five of us to dwell, grow, rest, and serve. Each one of us has been embraced with such warmth and enthusiasm—thank you all so much for the power and depth of your welcoming kindness! God is at work in our lives, individually and corporately, and we are listening. Here’s to the joy in the journey, and we look forward to seeing more of you along the way!
