Stewardship Statement

We, the vestry and clergy of the Chapel of the Cross, affirm the following vision of Stewardship.

We believe that as God’s children we are to use joyfully all our gifts in the work God has given us to do. Genuine gratitude, expansive generosity, and faithful seeking of God’s will are the hallmarks of good stewardship.

We commit our parish to
   - use generously our buildings and grounds in the service of God and others,
   - encourage and equip our clergy and parishioners continually to serve those in need,
   - the goal of giving away 1/4 of our annual budget and 1/10 of undesignated bequests beyond the parish.

We commit ourselves to
   - acknowledge "not only with our lips but in our lives" God as the source of all that we have and are,
   - offer extravagantly our time, our talent, and our money in Christ’s service;
   - practice tithing as a joyful Christian discipline.

We challenge members of the Chapel of the Cross to
   - confront our fears of scarcity,
   - embrace a new vision of stewardship through a joyful response to God’s extravagant gifts
   - empower the mission of Christ through generous giving.
