For many years, the Chapel of the Cross has excelled in its
stewardship of time, talent, and treasure.
This parish knows that when we thankfully give back to God that
which He has given us, we are becoming builders of His kingdom
in this world. The viability of the ministries and programs inside
and outside the Chapel of the Cross are visible signs of this
kingdom at work. As a parish we have committed ourselves to give
enthusiastically to God for His purposes in the world and have
affirmed that stewardship is the sharing of time and talent, as
well as financial contributions.
In that regard, the time for the parishs annual fund-raising
campaign is quickly approaching. Based on comments received after
the canvass in 2001, this years canvass will once again
utilize direct mailing or response via the Internet. Plans have
been made to hold a phone-a-thon on Tuesday, October
22, and Wednesday, October 23. During the evening of those days,
a group of volunteers will contact each household to determine
if they have received their annual pledge packet and if they have
any questions about the parish, the budget for the next year,
or the fund-raising campaign.
Vice-chairs have already been identified to help organize the
volunteers. At the present time, we intend to mail pledge packets
out to each household during the week of October 14. The canvass
will officially be started on Sunday, October 20, at a Vestry
Forum to discuss the process with the parish. In addition, on
Sunday, September 22, the Stewardship Committee will host a parish-wide
information session to solicit input concerning needs and requirements
for next year's budget.
We hope that you will join us in this endeavor so that we can
answer our collective call "to worship the Lord in the beauty
of holiness, learn and teach the Christian faith, love one another,
strive for justice and peace among all people, care for those
in need, share our many blessings and do all this with truly thankful
hearts in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
