New Beginnings in Education on September 8
Gretchen S. Jordan

The fall calendar is full of educational opportunities for all ages.

The adult offerings are varied. Sunday morning Church School classes begin on September 8 in the Chapel with Stephen Elkins-Williams sharing gleanings from his sabbatical.

Children, youth, and children-at-heart will gather in the dining room for a time of celebration that will include interactive, joyful singing, stories, and the introduction of teachers before dismissing to classrooms.

On Monday, September 9 a series of evening classes begins with a three-part program on Islam. Guest speakers from the Muslim community will present core beliefs of Islam, commonalities with other major religions and women in Islam.

A new book group, "Reading with Deeper Eyes" will meet the first Thursday of each month beginning September 5. The Mary Harris Bible Study meets on Tuesdays at 8:30 a.m. for fellowship and study. Refer to the educational bulletin board in the dining room for a detailed listing.

Children’s Chapel for 2 – 5 year-olds will resume its program on September 15. Children are led from the preschool area to the Chapel for a time of worship and education. Families have a choice of worshipping together at the 9:00 service or sending their younger children to the Children’s Chapel program.
