Vestry Actions
At its March meeting, the vestry:
- Approved the disbursal of funds from the Social Ministry Committee community organizations line item in the amounts of $1000 to A Helping Hand, $500 to Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolinas, $1000 to Cornucopia House, $1000 to EmPOWERment, $2000 to Freedom House, $2000 to Project Homestart, $500 to Family Violence Prevention Center, $2000 to Orange County Rape Crisis Center, and $2000 to Orange-Alamance Prison Ministry and disbursal of funds from the discretionary outreach budget line item in the amounts of $1500 to El Hogar, $400 to Episcopal Farmworker Ministry, and $970 to Vosloorus AIDS Care Team and of disbursal of $6000 to the Interfaith Council for Social Services
- Approved amendment of the 2003 Operating Budget to reinstate funding of the Yates Scholarship in the amount of $200 to honor the life and memory of David Yates
- Received a status update on the Johnson Intern Program
and authorized the program to continue operations through July 31, 2004

Authorized the
treasurer to transfer the
remaining $34,000 of a previously designated gift to the Johnson
Intern Program from Undesignated Gifts and Bequests to the Johnson
Intern Fund

Approved the
proposed 2003-04 budget for the Johnson Intern Program

Adopted a
policy statement to address the issue of preparation of the Campus
Ministry budget by July 31 of each year
- Authorized the
expenditure of up to $3000 from Undesignated Memorials to fund the
construction of a new entry walk to the
parish office entrance to the Battle Building
- Received the
Chapel of the Cross Practices and Procedures for Use of the Computer
Network document
- Learned that
Hugh Tilson has been
approved by Bishop Curry to enter the
intern year in the diaconate process
- Made plans to
draft a letter of appreciation to servicemen in the parish and to offer
prayers of support
- Made plans to
oversee the 2003 vestry
election on March 23.
