Guild of the Christ Child

The Guild of the Christ Child is a group of parishioners whose primary responsibility is to welcome new babies into our parish, whether as new families or as new babies born to (or adopted by) existing parishioners. The Guild’s ministry includes facilitating connections with the Children and Family Ministry Committee and other families parenting young children, prayers, visits, meal preparation, and gifts for the newborn. The guild includes a group of parishioners who pay a visit to the family within the first week or so after a baby’s birth to welcome the baby and to bring an offering of several items from the church that are designed to introduce the family and the child to the foundations of faith as early as possible. The guild also includes parishioners who make baby sweaters, booties, hats, and blankets for the newborn, and parishioners who cook meals to be taken to the family.

By welcoming families with new children as soon as possible after they are born or adopted, the families are able to quickly and easily connect with the support groups and Christian formation programs of the parish. These programs will become an important part of their lives and those of their children for many years to come.
