Eradicating Global Poverty

Beginning Tuesday, April 10, at 7:30 pm for five consecutive weeks, there will be an opportunity for small group study, reflection and discussion using a new curriculum developed by the National Council of Churches on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG's) in the parish parlor. The study is sponsored by the Micah Group as we continue to deepen our understanding of our engagement with the MDG's and is open to all parishioners. The six sessions are structured around the eight internationally agreed upon goals to end extreme poverty, hunger and disease by 2015. The study includes human interest stories, facts, figures, Bible passages, questions for discussion and action steps. The book's author, Lalli Lloyd, Chair of the Episcopal Church's Standing Commission on Domestic Mission and Evangelism, will be with us at our first session. Copies of the book are $8.50 and can be provided without charge if needed. Stewardship

Carbon Fast

If you and your family participated in the carbon-fast for Lent, please remember to report your carbon reductions on the form provided in your folders. Please report the carbon emission you did NOT release into the environment during Lent! There is a box in the parish hall where you can turn in your forms. This is important because our rector will be reporting our total reductions soon after Easter. If you have questions about these calculations, please call Linda Rimer (call office for number) or at lbrimer@bellsouth.net.

Episcopal Youth Community

Students from the Chapel of the Cross's EYC will be collecting leftover foreign currency from parishioners' foreign travels to benefit EYC mission activities. All those coins and bills that have been taking up space on top of your chest of drawers can now go to great use! Students will be collecting donations after the 9:00 and 11:15 services April 15 and April 22 and donations will be gladly accepted during ABC sale week. If you have any questions, please contact Margaret Conrad (call office for number).

Good Samaritan Guild

The Good Samaritan Guild needs to replenish our supply of frozen meals for parishioners in need. Containers with recipes for casseroles and soups are available in the dining room this morning. Please take one and return it at your convenience. Feel free to make one of your own recipes instead. Please use smaller sized containers, label the ingredients, and date it. If you have containers in good condition that the Good Samaritans could reuse please put them in a bag, mark it "Good Sams" and leave it in the parish office.

Million Meals for Eradicating Hunger

On April 21, three local Rotary clubs will join forces with other local caring groups and organizations to put together 170,000 meals to be sent to developing countries.
