Announcements

Counters Needed

Each Monday morning a group of parishioners meets to count and deposit all money received by the parish during the prior week. We need additional people for this important committee. The group meets at 8:30 each Monday and is usually finished by 11:00. If you would be interested in providing this service to the parish please call the parish accountant Debby Kulik at 929-2193. If she is not in the office, please leave a message and she will return your call.

Hospitality Manager Needed

The parish is seeking a person for a part-time position responsible for maintaining the orderliness and hospitality of our facility, especially the kitchen, dining room and parlor, as well as serve as a resource for groups using these areas. It may require some flexible hours including weekends and Sundays for special services. For more information and a full job description, contact Barbara Hastings at 929-2193.

Wedding Coordinator

The parish is seeking a person to serve as wedding coordinator. The wedding coordinator assists the clergy and staff at the Chapel of the Cross in planning and coordinating preparations for all weddings taking place here. Persons interested may read more information in the Wedding Brochure on the parish website. A printed copy is also available in the parish office. Those interested may contact Barbara Hastings after April 16 to apply.

Emergency Procedures

Emergency procedure instructions for the parish buildings are now posted by the alarm box located in the hallway by the parish office. If you have questions, please see Tom Mander, facilities manager, or call Clare Baum (call office for number).

Global Mission Thanks and Challenge

Thanks to Global Mission committee, mission team members, and other parishioners who provided such a warm welcome to Fr. Eduardo Monzon, rector of San Patricio, last week. We are especially grateful to an anonymous parishioner and to Blanche and Henry Clark for significant contributions to San Patricio's construction budget. Because of these gifts Fr. Monzon and his parishioners can resume work on the church they need to continue their worship and outreach to the community. We invite others to join our effort to help pay for a church for these new Episcopalians, who, with almost no resources of their own, are accomplishing great things in Honduras. Send checks to the office made out to "Chapel of the Cross" with "Global Mission: San Patricio Construction" on memo line.

Living the Questions

The final four segments of the video discussion program facilitated by our clergy will begin this Thursday, April 26, with both morning from 10:00 - 11:30 am and evening groups from 7:30 - 9:00 pm. The sessions are titled "Lives of Jesus," "Compassion," "Passion for Christ" and "Out in the World." If you plan to attend any of the sessions, please sign up in the parish office and indicate which sessions you will attend.

Mission Team Opportunity

If you wanted to be a part of our May mission trip to San Patricio but waited too long to apply, here's your chance! A place on the team has just opened up. Final travel plans are being made, so you must act now. Contact Ann Henley at annhenley@msn.com and join us as we travel to Honduras for a week of work, service and worship with Eduardo Monzon's parish in El Progreso.

Vacation Church School

Registration continues for our summer VCS program, to be held July 23-27. Registration forms are available in the dining room. Please note that this year's program is for children entering kindergarten in the fall 2007 up through children completing fifth grade this spring. Registration is currently open only to church parishioners and those visiting our parish. If classes are not filled by May 31, registration will be opened to the wider community.

Art Display

"Celebrate God's Creation" is a window of color and expression offered by children of the parish in observance of Earth Day. Children were invited to depict things in nature that elicited a response like, "Whoa, how in the world did God create that!" or to depict a place where they feel the power of God's presence. A variety of art responses await your gaze in the window looking out on the courtyard. Children made sketches in pencil which were copied onto transparencies and then colored with permanent markers. We trust this stained glass window art will offer to you the joy and awe of God's creations.

Report Your Carbon Reduction

The rector wants to announce the benefits that our collective effort has made toward protecting our planet, God's creation. Please use the reporting form in the carbon fast folder that you received either on February 18 or 25, 2007. If you have questions about how to calculate or report your carbon reductions, please contact Linda Rimer (call office for number) or at lbrimer@bellsouth.net.
