Community Partnership Outreach - Funding Guidelines

  1. Community partnership funding constitutes the use of parish funds to support organizations in the local community with which the Chapel of the Cross is prepared to make a commitment of at least three years.

  2. The following conditions are prerequisite in order for the Outreach Ministry Committee to consider an organization for Community Partnership Outreach:

  3. • The organization has received funds from discretionary funding over a period of at least two years.
    • The organization has a track record of stability and shows effective use of funds.
    • The organization fills an important need in the community
    • The organization is usually located in the Triangle area.

  4. Organizations receiving community partnership funding will have a liaison from the Outreach Ministry Committee. These organizations will be required to submit their latest annual program and financial report or equivalent documentation.

  5. Organizations in which the Chapel of the Cross parishioners are actively involved will be given special consideration but must meet all other criteria.

  6. Each year, the OMC will assess the budget needs of the current community organizations in light of evolving community needs and priorities and will recommend to the Vestry funding levels for the new fiscal year.

Discretionary Outreach - Funding Guidelines

  1. Discretionary outreach funding constitutes the use of funds for a project without commitment to continued funding of these projects.
  2. Discretionary outreach funds may be used for but not limited to the following:

    • Charitable organizations that need assistance getting started, continuing or expanding.
    • Charitable organizations in which the Chapel of the Cross acts in collaboration with other funding groups
    • Charitable groups with emergency needs.
  3. In recommending the allocations of discretionary outreach funds, the Outreach Ministry Committee will respond to needs at the local, regional and national levels.
  4. Funds must be granted to an organization outside the Chapel of the Cross and not an individual.

ABC Sale - Funding Guidelines

  1. Grants shall benefit area nonprofit organizations that target children, education, mental and physical health and homelessness/poverty.
  2. Grants shall benefit organizations and activities that are not directly administered by the parish.
  3. Grants shall be awarded to organizations rather than to individuals.
  4. Grants shall be given to support special projects or needs rather than to support operational budgets.
  5. Grants shall go primarily, but not exclusively, toward local needs.

Other questions the committee will consider in making its decisions.

Will our support make a difference to the applicant?
What kind of difference will it make?
How urgent is this need?
Who or what segment of society will benefit or be impacted by our support?
Is the organization capable of carrying out its objectives and goals?
Does it have a proven track record?
Should ABC Sale proceeds be used for this request or should the funds come from another committee of the Chapel of the Cross?

Applicants are asked to complete all pages of the application and return the completed application with a brochure and the most recent annual report. The financial statement MUST be included and completed as is. Only applications that include all requested information can be considered.
