Pauli Murray and the Episcopal Church: Parishioner, Activist, Priest, and Saint

There will be an opportunity for Orange County Episcopalians to gather at The Chapel of the Cross on Pauli Murray’s birthday, Sunday, November 20. This gathering is sponsored by Racial Justice and Reconciliation Committees of St. Matthew’s, Hillsborough and the Chapel of the Cross, Chapel Hill.
The gathering will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the Historic Chapel, where Pauli Murray celebrated the Eucharist for the first time in February, 1977, and where Presiding Bishop Katherine Jefferts Schori came and preached a 30th-anniversary sermon in February, 2007.
Diocesan Historiographer and Rector Emeritus of St. Matthew’s, Brooks Graebner, will talk about “Pauli Murray and the Episcopal Church: Parishioner, Activist, Priest, and Saint,” followed by group discussion of the significance of Pauli Murray’s legacy for today.
