SUMMARY:Earth Day Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Join us Sunday\, April 21 as the Creation Care Committee hosts several events to honor Earth Day. \nAdult Formation: Creation Care | 10:15 a.m. \nBeginning on the Sunday prior to Earth Day\, the Creation Care Committee will sponsor three Adult Formation programs focused on the importance of incorporating the care of God’s creation into all aspects of our lives. The programs transition from a global focus to a focus on our church and\, finally\, to a focus on what we can do to make change as individuals. \nThe first session will lay out the grounding of creation care in scripture and in formal positions taken by the Episcopal church. This will be followed by a presentation on the challenges that we face to preserve and protect the Earth’s environment and the recent successes that we are seeing globally on this front. Time will be provided for parishioners to share their views and concerns. \nWalk for Environmental Justice\n3:00 p.m. | University United Methodist Church \nThe Creation Care Committee invites all parishioners to join members of other area churches in a Walk for Environmental Justice. At 3 p.m. we will convene in front of the U.M.C. where we will enjoy inspirational music\, hear speakers\, and receive information about how we can be better caretakers of God’s creation. We will then proceed to walk on the sidewalk in a loop from the Planetarium to West Franklin Street and back. \nParticipants are encouraged to carry signs that convey their issues to the public.
