Faith in Action

Sharing our Faith, Values & Voices

The Chapel of the Cross is called to equip and inspire parishioners to share their faith, values and voice with the community, university, diocese and beyond and to translate these into action.

A Season of Giving

“For it is in giving that we receive” – St. Francis of Assisi

In the season of Advent, our Faith in Action committee offers several opportunities to help those in need:

Our Talents for your Treasure: An Online Advent Auction

This year, instead of an ABC sale we are offering an online Advent Auction. The items up for bidding are almost all offerings of talent from members of our community–gourmet meals, art, consulting services. These gifts have been offered in the hopes that you will bid generously not only to secure such wonderful offerings for you and your family and friends, but to support the important ministries that give us as members of The Chapel of the Cross a chance to put our faith into action. Our goal is to raise $4,000. Bidding opens on December 5th, and closes on December 12th. If you want to contribute without bidding on an item you are, of course, welcome to do so. View the auction website here.

Giving Tree 2021

The Giving Tree, an Advent project to assist those in need in our community, has evolved over the years. We are enabling those who wish to shop remotely, two Target registries, with shipment made directly to our recipients. Also, lists are provided for those who wish to shop “in person”. We will be helping two community agencies this year: UNC Horizons, a substance-use treatment program for pregnant and/or parenting women and their children and Orange County Social Services.

Wish lists and information on how to participate are available at this link. Deadline is December 12.
