Care and Prepare: Advent Outreach Initiative
Join us this Advent season for “Care & Prepare,” a special outreach initiative that invites our parish to care for our community and prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. Our cornerstone event at SECU Family House will include choir music, a home-cooked meal, festive door decorations, and joyful sidewalk chalk art.
You can also participate by giving through two Target registries, allowing remote shoppers to send gifts directly to Christmas House and IFC Men’s Shelter, or by baking casseroles to support the breakfast ministry at St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Durham. There are many ways to participate throughout Advent—join us in this meaningful celebration of hope and hospitality.
November 30 – December 18: Gift Registries and Casserole Collection

Casserole Baking (12/1, 12/8, and 12/14)
Help Support St. Joseph’s Breakfast Ministry
Join us in preparing casseroles for St. Joseph’s in Durham. Cooking sessions will be held in the CotC kitchen on December 1, 8, and 14. Once rosters are finalized, we’ll share a list of needed supplies (e.g., eggs, sausage, bread, tater tots).Prefer to bake at home? Contact Ellen Cole for details.
We also need volunteers to deliver meals during the week of December 16.
Sunday, December 14: Seasonal Door Decorating for SECU House | 10:15 a.m. | Parish Hall
During the Formation Hour on the second Sunday of Advent, join us for a family-friendly wreath-making activity. We’ll create 75 door decorations to brighten guest rooms and lift spirits.
Wednesday, December 17: Cornerstone Event at SECU Family House
– 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. – Prepare and serve dinner (12 volunteers)
– 5:00–6:00 p.m. – Sidewalk chalk art with 15 volunteers (kids & families)
– 5:15–6:00 p.m. – Choir performance in the Great Room
– 6:15 – 7:30 p.m. – Finish serving the meal and clean up (8 volunteers)
