Lenten Day of Reflection

The Spiritual Life Guild is delighted to invite you to register for the Lenten Day of Reflection (LDR) entitled “At the Still Point of the Turning World” to be held on Saturday, March 15th at Camp New Hope (4805 NC-86, Chapel Hill, NC). During this LDR, we will spend time exploring spiritual practices that help with stilling the mind and gentling the heart. Drawing on a variety of contemplative teachings, we will practice ways of returning to what T. S. Eliot called “the still point of the turning world” – the Divine Ground of all that is. Dr. Timothy Hinton will be our facilitator. In addition to being a parishioner at COTC, Tim is a member of NC State’s Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. He has studied, practiced, and taught contemplative disciplines for many years and has led several contemplative retreats.
After gathering for coffee and fellowship at 9:00AM, the program will begin promptly at 9:30AM with our first teaching. Each teaching will be followed by a period of personal silent reflections on our individual spiritual journeys. Dr. Hinton will lead us in a group prayer at noon. Our lunch will offer both vegetarian and gluten-free options. The day will conclude around 2:00 PM. There is a $25 registration fee to be paid with your on-line registration or at the event. Scholarships are available to assist with the registration fee if needed by contacting Boykin Bell at bbell@thechapelofthecross.org.
